Provisions For Privacy and E-Commerce

USIIA supports the initiative for industry self-regulation with respect to privacy. Any and  all information collected at this site will be kept strictly confidential and will not be sold, reused, rented, loaned, or otherwise disclosed except in the provision of benefits to members of the Association.   A more detailed explanation about how we use personal information is provided below.

Collection of personal information:

  • No information is requested or will be collected at this web site other than that pertaining to a fulfillment of requests for USIIA goods and services or membership in the Association.

  • Membership information for both new and renewal memberships will be used only for purposes of providing information and benefits to USIIA members. This may, on occasion, necessitate the provision of personal information, including name, address, telephone numbers and e-mail address, to other members of the Association or to vendors providing tangible benefits to USIIA members.

  • Members of the Association may remove their names from any mailing list or record of the Association simply by making the request of the Director of Member Services for USIIA. However, doing so may eliminate some of the benefits of membership. We encourage members to discuss their privacy requirements prior to requesting the termination of benefits.

Resale or disclosure of information to third parties:

  • The Association does not sell, rent, loan, trade, or lease any personal information, including membership forms or email lists.  USIIA does make mailing addresses and/or email addresses available to vendors who are providing benefits to Association members.

Use of cookies:

  • We do not use cookies on this site, but do in general support the use of cookies as a means to enhance your browsing experience. We do not support the use of cookies for undisclosed collection of personal information.

Consumer Information:

On September 21, 1996, California adopted an amendment to Section 17538 of the California Business and Professions Code, relating to sales. The bill requires that online services engaged in the sale of products and services make available information about themselves, their policies, and methods of resolving consumer disputes.

USIIA believes that no single state or nation has legal authority over global online and Internet services located in other states or nations. But USIIA is a staunch supporter of consumer protection laws, and therefore provides the following information in the spirit of the California law.

  • Orders for merchandise made through this site will be processed and the materials shipped within five working days. While not guaranteed, the norm is for all transactions to be processed and confirmed via e-mail within 24 hours.

  • No other products or services will be substituted, though the benefits offered to members will change as providers of those services to the Association alter their offers. For example, a magazine publisher may revoke an offer of free subscriptions for USIIA members.

  • USIIA makes no provision for refunds for any products or services. In the event that a tangible product is damaged in shipment, USIIA will provide an undamaged replacement.
